The Chiffons - Sweet Talkin' Girls [02 Feb 2007|10:26pm]

[ mood | amused ]

Lj Travis reminded me that I promised I'd upload this for him, and since for some reason YSI is giving me a free upgrade for 30 days (I'm assuming this is a ploy to try and get me to start paying for their services - joke's on you YSI, I'm a graduate student, haha!), I figured I'd post this around. I uploaded zips of the newish Chiffons compilation Sweet Talkin' Girls. Help yourself. It'll be up for 2 weeks or for 500 downloads. There are two links because there are two discs, and thus I made two zip files.

The songs on the compilation:

1. He's So Fine
2. Oh My Lover
3. Lucky Me
4. One Fine Day
5. Why Am I So Shy
6. My Block
7. When I Go To Sleep At Night
8. Mystic Voice
9. A Love So Fine
10. Only My Friend
11. When The Boy's Happy (The Girl's Happy Too)
12. I Have A Boyfriend
13. I'm Gonna Dry My Eyes
14. Easy To Love (So Hard To Get)
15. Tonight I Met An Angel
16. Sailor Boy
17. When Summer's Through
18. Strange Strange Feeling
19. What Am I Gonna Do With You (Hey Baby)
20. Nobody Knows What's Going On
21. The Real Thing
22. Tonight I'm Gonna Dream
23. The Heavenly Place
24. Did You Ever Go Steady
25. Now That You're My Baby

Disc: 2
01. Sweet Talkin' Guy
02. Down Down Down

I bought a strange item the other day, funnily enough at the record shop where I now work. it is a Canadian copy of The Bee Gees 3rd (or 5th, or even 6th) LP, "idea" which has the back cover (US design) printed on both sides. Maybe small_circle (the only person I know with a more impressive Bee Gees collection than me) has seen this, but I never have. I took this picture as a demonstration-

If you are not familiar with this great pop-psych LP, here is an MP3:

Bee Gees - Kilburn Towers MP3

The catalogue is being reissued later in the year, so buy it then!

Two communities for two classic Band Stand Chicks! Please Join! If you don't know anything about them, join and discover great music all over again. Ask your grandparents!

A popular singer of tearful ballads and jaunty up-tempo numbers, Francis was one of the most successful female artists of the 50s and 60s. However her mark on Rock and Roll was a great one. With the recordings of two of the biggest songs that helped the formation of Rock and Roll, Eighteen and Fallin'. Connie would continue to create a countless number of Rock Hits but is still denied her place in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.

One of the Newest inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame
Lee was a child prodigy, appearing on national television by the age of ten, and making her first recordings for Decca the following year (1956). Her first few Decca singles, in fact, make a pretty fair bid for the best preteen rock & roll performances this side of Michael Jackson. "BIGELOW 6-200," "Dynamite," and "Little Jonah" are all exceptionally powerful rockabilly performances, with robust vocals and white-hot backing from the cream of Nashville's session musicians (including Owen Bradley, Grady Martin, Hank Garland, and Floyd Cramer). Lee would not have her first big hits until 1960, when she tempered the rockabilly with teen idol pop on "Sweet Nothin's," which went to the Top Five.

Anybody here a fan of the Free Design? I've been listening to clips of them a lot recently, but have yet to find any mp3s, records, or CDs anywhere...can anybody hook me up?

For those not in the know, the Free Design is a greaaat, saccharine in the best of ways 60s/70s baroque pop bands from New York. It's hard to listen to them and not smile.

To hear them, go to Aquarius Records' homepage and search for them...they've got streams.

Hey [20 May 2005|04:00pm]

Hello everyone!
I'm Summer, & I just joined, I love 60's/70's pop, and was wondering if anyone knew of anybands that sound familiar to the Beatles, and The La'a. And if you know any modern band that have a sort of similar sound e.g, the thrills. Thanks :)
Much love, peace, glitter, and kisses
